January 2006 Kirubakran Subramani John Argentieri Chain Programming is a restricted form of Linear Programming with a number of interesting properties. It provides a reader an easy-understanding of problem-solving methods based upon careful discussion of model formulation, solution procedures and analysis.
It further discuss the use of computer packages (LINDO) to solve the LPP. The entire book is divided into 6 chapters, which contains the following: 1.General Concept of Operation Research 2.Linear Programming ProblemModel 3.Graphical Method 4.Simplex Method 5.Duality in Linear Programming 6.Sensitivity Analysis in Linear Programming The book is intended to serve as a textbook for students of B.Sc (Education, Computer Science and Statistics), BBA who need to understand the basic concepts of Operations Research and apply them. It also suits the requirement for MBA, MSc (Mathematics, Information Technology and Statistics) who need both theoretical and practical knowledge of Operations Research. Amoroso Francesco Castelluccio Purpose: The purpose of the study is to modify the plan of a network of heliport for HEMS, civil protection and transport proposed by the regional government through the combined use of linear programming and GIS techniques. Designmethodologyapproach: The methodology used for the evaluation is based on the application of a set covering model. Show full abstract allows savings in relation to the plan proposed by the regional government by ensuring the best coverage of the whole territory. Research limitationsimplications: This research is limited by the field of application and the weaknesses of the linear programming techniques. However, it could be the first step for further works that will include more accurate models. Practical implications: The study suggests the reorganization of the network of heliports; this would be a fundamental step to improve the services supplied by the helicopters, such as HEMS, civil protection, SAR, aerial work, firefighting and transport, especially in a region characterized by a poor accessibility. Linear Programming Sd Sharma Software And OROriginalityvalue: This is the first study on the application of the combined use of open-source GIS software and OR methods for planning a heliport network.
